To use a dating analogy, have you ever heard “It’s not you, it’s me”, I can’t date you unless I know who I am first”?

Sorry if you have, but this applies to businesses! How can you attract, recruit, appoint and work with people unless you fully know who you are and what you want your business to feel like?

Do you have a set of core company values? Do the people you recruit align with those?
Culture isn’t just for HR to come up with ideas for, it’s for leaders to drive and live by example.
I wanted to let you know about an event I am co running an event on 20th October at Overtown Manor in Wroughton, called ‘Our Culture Club’.
Within my role as a HR Consultant, I work with various sized businesses and their leaders and talk extensively about their company culture and what values that they want to work to (or need to define).
Our Culture Club is about business owners and leaders that put their people at the forefront and finding their purpose. I am sure you have read the evidence that a positive culture enhances efficiency and productivity (with a direct positive impact on the profitability) but yet there are some businesses that haven’t adapted to new ways of working.
Together with Sarah Dena from New Wave Learning, I want to disrupt the way people have always thought about culture and help raise awareness of employee value propositions and being an employer of choice.
We have taken a proactive approach to create a community called ‘Our Culture Club’ which starts with our first event on 20th October at Overtown Manor in Wroughton.

What you can expect from the day
What you can expect from the day
It is an interactive, practical and experiential day of strategic reflection, learning and action planning where we demonstrate how a positive company culture cultivates success, engagement, and growth for small businesses.
The ultimate aim is to build a community of small to medium sized business owners and leaders that want to take culture and values more seriously, but we have to start somewhere, which is our first intimate event on 20th October. We also have a guest speaker – Malcolm Gregory from RWK Solicitors who will provide useful insights from where businesses can experience pitfalls, when culture isn’t taken seriously.
I have attached the details of the event and tickets can be purchased on the link below. There is a cost to it – not only is a tasty two-course lunch together included at Overtown Manor (Nancy is a great chef and the venue is beautiful), but Sarah and I know the value, the skills and experiences that we will bring to those that come along. Having Malcolm also join us means that you will benefit greatly from coming along.
We aren’t looking at having a large number of attendees at the events, we want to make it intimate enough to make sure that everyone’s voices are heard and that we have open discussions and create that safe environment where people can openly contribute to the day.

This also doesn’t need to a ‘one off’ and kept to this event as we’re already thinking what ‘Culture Club’ looks like longer term – we want to build on the events but also form a community that explores and shares fresher ways of working, with our skills and experience being of added value to you. We will be announcing the ‘what’s next’ stages at the end of the event.
We really hope to see you there and please do share if you feel that anyone in your network could be interested in chatting this through or attending.
